Frequently Asked Questions
Certifications
What's the difference between a coach and consultant?
Coaches are certified to offer one-on-one services to people in their designated category (health and wellness or professional resilience).
Consultants must first complete coaching certification and then train directly with Dr. Gentry to deliver workshops to large groups and offer organizational programming around Forward-Facing approaches.
What's the difference between health and wellness (H&W) and professional resilience (PR)?
Health and Wellness coaches are trained specifically to offer people skill-building to manage stress (including traumatic stress) in their personal lives. This includes a 5-session protocol for helping clients master the key Forward-Facing® skills of self-reguation and intentionality. While the focus for Health and Wellness coaching is on personal life, the key skills and concepts in this certification can transfer into professional settings as well, especially professional settings not focused on the possibility of secondary trauma in their workers (think traditional corporate settings).
Professional Resilience coaches and consultants are trained specifically to help people prevent and treat compassion fatigue (the combination of secondary traumatic stress and burnout). This is accomplished through a 10-hour, 5-session protocol called the Accelerated Recovery Program. This program was initially designed for working with helping professionals such as therapists, doctors, nurses, and other medical staff, teachers, and social workers. The studies proving its effectiveness come from hospitals and veterinary clinics.
How do I decide between H&W and PR?
Consider the group of people you are most interested in working with. Do you want to work with people in a professional setting or focus more on their personal lives? Are you interested in more traditional corporate spaces or helping professionals in particular?

Recertification
When do I need to renew my Posttraumatic Growth Specialist certification?
Until 2028, all Posttraumatic Growth Specialist certifications remain up-to-date until 2029. Closer to expiration, we will update you with instructions.
When do I need to renew my coaching/consulting certification?
All coaches certified IN 2023 will need to meet the following objectives to recertify by December 31st, 2024.
If you are certified in multiple ways (coach, consultant, either track (H&W and/or FFPR), your most recent certification is what we’ll count as we consider when you need to recertify. For example: if you got certified for H&W coaching in 2021, but you completed FFPR Consultant certification in 2023, we will consider you certified in 2023.
Recertification requirements include:
-
Attending six alumni sessions, or attending a FFME Group (both are $150)
-
Upload current Proof of Liability Insurance
Individuals who have multiple Forward-Facing®️ Certifications only need to fulfill the above requirements for one certification

Tech Issues
I’m logged into the website, but it says I’m not enrolled in the course I paid for? Why not?
It’s possible that you have multiple usernames. You can experiment to see if another email address or username contains access to the course or you can email [email protected] to check and see if you have accidentally created multiple usernames. We highly recommend keeping an accessible personal record of your usernames for sites that matter to you.
The website keeps logging me out. What do I do?
If it logs you out as you try to access your courses, click on the course you’d like to open even though it looks like you’ve logged out. The next screen may have you logged back in again and you should be able to continue.
If this does not work, you’ll need to use a different browser to access courses on forward-facing.me
I can’t access my courses on the website because it says I’m not logged in or enrolled. What do I do?
Trying using a different browser, this tends to fix it.
Alumni Groups
Who can attend alumni groups?
Anyone who has successfully completed FFME can attend alumni groups.
Where is the alumni group zoom link?
If you’re part of the paid monthly membership group:
($75/month with free access to alumni groups), you can go to the course to get the link or go to the pinned post at the top of the Alumni Membership (paid) group on forward-facing.me. We will update the link in both of these places as it changes. It should always work for you.
If you’re having a hard time accessing the page, MAKE SURE YOU’RE LOGGED IN to forward-facing.me.
If you’d like to have emails sent to you with the link to the meeting, you’ll need to register each time. A coupon code is located in the course for you to use if you prefer this.
If you’re attending as a one-time registrant:
You should have received an email when you signed up that included the link as well as an email reminder with the link in it. Make sure you remember which email address you used to sign up as you searched for the link. Also double check that you signed up for the appropriate date.
If all else fails, contacting Forward-Facing®️ admin staff for the link will not be of use to you unless we are working during the Alumni Group time (considering it’s in the evening, we will probably be living our lives with our families and not paying attention to work-related concerns). Dr. Gentry has given us permission to offer you his cell number if you’re experiencing unprecedented difficulty: 941-720-0143
PLEASE don’t overuse it. Dr. Gentry has a life too, and is very graciously offering this to you specifically for alumni group access issues.
I can’t access my courses on the website because it says I’m not logged in or enrolled. What do I do?
Trying using a different browser, this tends to fix it.
I’m waiting to be let in to alumni group and no one is letting me in. What do I do?
Check to make sure you’re at the right link. Is the meeting titled correctly for the month that you are in? Re-check the email or post you’re using to get into alumni groups to make sure you’re using the correct link. If all else fails, text Dr. Gentry.
Do you keep track of our attendance for recertification?
IF you register for each alum group, we will have record of which groups you signed up to attend, but we won’t have record that you were actually there. We depend on you to keep track of your attendance. You can use the recertification attendance sheet to do that.
