About
Forward-Facing® Institute
Founded in 2020 by Dr. J. Eric Gentry and Jenny Brackman, Forward-Facing® Institute creates resilience through coaching, consulting, certification, books and training. Our goal is to empower individuals with a renewed belief in their inner capacity, and to instill a genuine hope for their future marked by healing and fulfillment.
Forward-Facing is Freedom.
- Freedom from…the pain and trauma of the past; the weight and yoke of stress; the baffling complexity of mental health treatment; hopelessness, desperation and demoralization; and unfulfilled promises of a better life.
- Freedom to…live beyond your fear in a comfortable body; gain traction toward living an intentional and principle-based life; find safety, vulnerability, hope and joy; optimize your skills and capacities relationally, professionally, personally and spiritually; to become who you choose to be rather than who your past has programed you to be.
Post-Traumatic Growth
Trauma and pain comes in many shapes and sizes, leaving people confused and demoralized in its wake. If people were skeptical before, the COVID-19 pandemic has shown us that the body is a self-healing organism. It just needs to be provided with the tools to heal. Our programs are equal parts educational and practice.

Professional Resilience
People join helping professions because they care. But caring has a cost. The good news is that the cost of caring, often known as compassion fatigue, can be treated and prevented. Our services for professional resilience are the result of 25+ years of research and development in the area of burnout and compassion fatigue prevention.
We have published nine empirical peer-reviewed studies that have demonstrated the skills we teach lessen the stress-related effects of caregiving and service work. Additionally, these same skills—when implemented in a displaced approach—enhance well-being, performance and professional quality of life.
